Always try to include how you're going to use your gift, if possible. If the gift was money, indicate what you're going to use the money towards.

And, as always, it's best to begin and end the note with a "thank you." Here's a good example:

"Dear Aunt Lisa,

Thank you so much for the picnic basket full of goodies. Sean and I can't wait to use it next spring. It was especially thoughtful of you to include those two beautiful wine glasses. I already have the perfect romantic picnic lunch planned when we go to Colorado next year. It was so great to see you at the wedding; you looked so beautiful.
